María Menéndez Fúster is a PhD student at Radboud University Nijmegen (RUNMC), Nijmegen Centre for Health Systems Research and Education (NICHE) - International Public Health and NUHG (Promotor Professor Koos van der Velden, co-promotor Dra Françoise Barten & Dr. Joost van der Gulden; external co-promotor: Prof Carles Muntaner (University of Toronto, ON, and GREDS-EMCONET, University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona). She has been working in one of the main Spanish Trade Unions (CC.OO), as part of the Occupational Health and Safety Department, in Barcelona since 2001. She worked with the Health Inequalities Research Group (Department of Experimental and Health Sciences) at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona in the “Employment Precariousness Project”. She was the main coordinator of the European Project on the Role of Safety Representatives at the Workplace (EPSARE) funded by SALTSA and ETUI (European Trade Union Institute). She is currently member of the Health Inequalities Research Group/Employment Conditions Network (GREDS-EMCONET) at the Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, where she is focusing on workers’ participation issues, developing and supervising studies about the factors and conditions which influence the effectiveness of the health and safety representatives and Health and Safety Committees.
