Dr. Evert Ketting

Evert Ketting (1947), PhD in Social Sciences, is an international specialist in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). Until recently he was Head of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Centre (WHO Collaborating Centre) at the Netherlands School of Public and Occupational Health (NSPOH). After his graduation in 1974, he worked for the Netherlands Foundation for Safe Abortion (Stimezo), the Netherlands Institute of Social-Sexological Research (NISSO), and the National Mental Health Institute (Trimbos Institute). He holds a PhD from the University of Utrecht (1978). His thesis dealt with the process of safe abortion services in the Netherlands. From 1993 on, he mainly worked as an international consultant. He has extensive experience in working in the SRH and HIV/AIDS fields in developing countries, and particularly in central and eastern Europe, central Asia and Turkey.
His professional experience includes scientific research, editing journals, lecturing and training, project development, management and evaluation, as well as policy and programme advice.
He has worked as a consultant for various international agencies, including IPPF, EU, WHO, UNFPA, WB, and several consultancy firms. Currently, he is a senior researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen, MC/NICHE.
He published more than 200 articles, reports and books, mainly on SRH subjects, including family planning, adolescent sexual health, induced abortion, and related public health subjects.
