Dr. Verena Mauch

Verena Mauch received her PhD in August 2013. Her PhD research focused on equitable and sustainable access to TB care in high TB burden countries with a particular focus on TB patient costs. 

Verena Mauch completed a BA degree in Integrated Social Sciences at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany and a Master of Public Policy degree at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany. She wrote her Master thesis in collaboration with the World Health Organization's Stop TB Department on tuberculosis (TB) control in fragile states. After her studies she worked for four years as a tuberculosis consultant for KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in Den Haag, supporting the national tuberculosis programs of the Ministries of Health in Kenya, Zambia, Swaziland, The Gambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, and China. In 2011, Verena moved back to Germany where she is now the institute liaison officer for five Max Planck Institutes in the biomedical section of the Max Planck Society.
